When Brad faced challenges due to his mental health, the Public Trustee was appointed to support him make financial decisions. Brad had borrowed money to buy furniture and repair his broken TV, but paying it back was tough on his Centrelink pension, and the debt kept growing.

We worked closely with Brad to create a plan. We worked with both creditors and Brad to gradually reduce the debt. We also helped Brad to make a budget to manage his expenses more effectively.

Our goal was to offer practical support for Brad and provide tools to deal with unexpected expenses without getting into more debt. The Public Trustee is dedicated to supporting people like Brad in making financial decisions about their money and belonging, helping them achieve independence, especially during challenging times related to mental health.
