Unleash Your Will-Power During National Wills Week

Australia is gearing up for the second National Wills Week (NWW), set to run from Monday, 9 September to Sunday, 15 September 2024. This annual event unites states and territories across the country to highlight the vital importance of advance life planning. The theme for this year, ‘You Have the Will-Power!’, encourages all Australians to take control of their future by making or updating their Will.

Research reveals that while most people aged 40–65 know the importance of having a Will, many find it challenging to set aside the time to actually create one. National Wills Week 2024 is a timely reminder that making a Will is simple, essential, and can save your loved ones from unnecessary hardship down the road.

Todd Kennedy, CEO of the Public Trustee of Tasmania, is calling on all Tasmanians to be the hero of their own story and use National Wills Week as an opportunity to ensure their wishes are clearly documented.

“Sadly, around fifty per cent of Tasmanians will pass away without a will and unfortunately, that can have a big impact on those left behind.” Mr Kennedy said.

Mr Kennedy added, “Your Will is your voice in the future. It’s your opportunity to decide how your estate is distributed—whether it’s leaving everything equally to loved ones or supporting charitable causes that matter to you. Use your Will to leave a legacy you can be proud of.”
