What is a budget? How do you create one?
These are some of the questions answered by a Public Trustee Team Leader at the recent Speak Out Advocacy Disability Expo in Devonport.
Participants were led through a short chat about what a budget is, why it’s important, and how to create a simple fortnightly budget.
“Helping people learn about how to make a budget can support them to better understand and take control of their finances,” the Team leader said. “It doesn’t have to be complicated but knowing what to include is the first step to understanding where your money goes. It helps make sure all the bills are paid and you can see what you need to do to save for your goals – whatever they may be!”
An example budget template was shared with attendees at the chat. Like a copy? You can download it to help you get started with your own budget.
