On 29 August 2003 The Public Trustee celebrated 150 years of service to the Tasmanian Community.
The Public Trustee was the first office of its kind in Australia and today 33,000 Tasmanians have placed their trust in The Public Trustee.
A highlight of the 150th anniversary celebrations was the sealing of a unique time capsule on the 29 August at our Hobart office. The capsule contained personal messages from over 500 Tasmanian primary school children about their hopes and aspirations for life in 50 years.
Below are some of the "Time Capsule Messages" we received.
Zoe - 11 years
In 2053 I think all animals will be able to communicate with humans. There will be teleporting machines that take you anywhere you desire. There will be cures for diseases.
Ellen - 12 years
In 2053 I lean back in my computerised chair. I remember the old days when dogs could only bark and people died of many cancers. I will travel the world.
Briar - 9 years
My personal dream is to marry a man and have six or more children and spend time with my friends and to be buried next to my dog Scooter.
Henry
I hope there will be no more war, starvation and that people will wake up to what they are doing to the environment. And that everybody will be happy.
Eleanor - 12 years
In 2053 I would be a grandmother, retired from a successful career as a crime-scene investigator. I want no wars, a clean environment, no famine and a disease-free world.
Nathan - 7 years
In 2053 I will be 57 and live in Queensland. I will be relaxing in the swimming pool. I will not get married and have children. I will be a tennis umpire.

In 2053 I will be sitting around watching t.v. and playing with my 2 grandkids. I will have 3 children of my own, and live in Melbourne. My husband will have black hair, and he will be a chemist. I will be a cleaner.
Chris - 11 years
In 2053 I will be old and I hope that there will be no wars and no arguments with other people.

In 2053 I want to be an explorer and play football. I want to explore jungles and see lions and snakes. I won't tread on them or let them see me.
Claire - 11 years
I hope that I would have become a dance teacher and will live in Hobart. Hopefully the world will not have Meningococcal and I will have been a beautician or an accountant.
